grace

Today I received a mail… a chain-mail. Normally I would trash these, but something in it caught my eye and I read it through… I did indeed feel very touched… enough to want to share.

It said:

“If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.”

“If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation. You are ahead of 700 million people in the world..”

“If you can visit your place of worship and pray without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world.”

“If you woke up this morning with more health than illness .. You are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day.”

“If your parents are still alive and still married …you are very rare.”

and I would like to add:

“If you are person who is not ostracized, held in suspicion or maligned for following a particular religion, believe me you are better off than all those are rejected for their religion”

“If you are a woman who does not have to live in fear of being regularly beaten, raped, bought and sold, married off too early, harassed because you give birth to a girl child or your body has not been depleted due to many childbirths… you are better off than more women than you can count.”

“If you have a body that is whole, co-operates with you, and allows you to live a physically struggle free life, you are blessed”

“If there is someone out there who loves you and cares what happens to you, then you are much better off than most in the world”

Yes. Sometimes we forget how much we have to be thankful for…

  1. This is wonderfully expressed, and it is good to be reminded to be grateful for things we take for granted – until things change and one of these blessings is taken away. Thank you for this.
