Playmates

In the autumn, when I played with you
I never once questioned who or what you were
I knew no guilt, no shyness, no fear

I only knew how I would wait for your call
That would wake me from slumber like an old comrade
And lead me running from glade to sunlit glade

In those days I never once cared to know
The meaning of your songs that you sang to me
Only knew my heart danced to the tunes, magically free

Now when playtime is over
And I pause in the moment, to turn back and see
I can only stare in awe, at what had encountered me.

– Rabindranath Tagore, Gitanjali

Tagore’s Gitanjali has many such beautiful poems depicting his experiences and interactions with the Divine. I wish I could reproduce all them, but I guess that cannot done!
