Rajoli – Village of the Singing Looms

I was listening to some music by Indian Ocean and suddenly my being flooded with the music of Jhini Jhini Bini Chadariya … meaning I weave a fine cloth. This is originally a song by the 15th century mystic and poet, Kabir.
The song immediately took me to Rajoli – the village of the Singing Looms. Unfortunately, my visit was not a happy occasions, as Rajoli is one of the villages severely affected by floods in the Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers.
Rajoli is famous for its handloom weavers and the Gadwal silk sarees. And Rajoli, for the moment is the village of the Silenced Looms.
