Walls of Pride

Posted for the Poets United Thursday Think prompt #14 and Jingle Poetry’s Potluck

the Walls of Pride are high n wide
can’t see over to the other side
too proud
too proud
i just stay in
no letting other see
what shit I am in

too proud
too proud
to be able to tell
that I am lonely,
am lonely as hell

too proud
too proud
to admit my need
i stoke my fire
and just feed it and feed

with bits of stories of days bygone
not willin’ to see I am tired and torn
too proud
too proud
the Walls are oh! so high and wide
can’t let anyone anymore inside
