Obssession

i see it standing there. this creature of mine. restless. brooding. waiting to take me. i know once it sinks its teeth in me, i will have no choice. nowhere to go. nothing i will be able to do. the only way is to not let it take me. the fight then is to keep a distance.

as i dance away from it each time, it finds me in the next corner, the next and the next. always there. waiting for me to weaken. to tire. to take my eyes off it, just once. inevitably, i do tire. i can’t keep up this eternal vigilance. the creature, however, is tireless. ever-awake. ever strong. my eyes droop, dying to sleep. and i unwittingly, give it the fraction of a second that it needs.

and i become feed.
